NOVEMBER 8 SPECIAL ELECTION: TIVERTON'S FUTURE ON THE LINE

Over the next two months, CURB-Tiverton will present information on, and discussion of, the two questions Tiverton voters will decide at the November 8 Special Election:
1) approving or rejecting a bond that will make possible the building of a new Public Library;
2) approving or rejecting a fundamental change to the Town Charter that would replace the Financial Town Meeting (FTM) with a Financial Town Referendum (FTR) as the method of determining budgets and taxes, and allow any two Town Councilors to overrule the decisions of the majority of voters.

As usual, there is much misinformation about these issues being put forth by special interests who know their views won't prevail through honest debate. The purpose of CURB-Tiverton remains to provide accurate information and honest debate of issues, in order to assist Tiverton residents in making a decision on the best way to preserve and enhance the quality of life for all Tiverton residents. The ultimate goal is to find consensus among reasonable people on how best to balance costs and benefits in order to achieve a "responsible budget" that meets the needs of all residents as cost-effectively as possible.

Please visit this website (www.curbtiverton.blogpsot.com) and the CURB-Tiverton page on Facebook for regular information and the opportunity to share your views, and continue to look for regular CURB email updates. And encourage friends, family & neighbors to do the same. The best antidote to efforts to impose on the town an extreme, self-serving, anti-Tiverton agenda is residents who are informed and active voters.
